September 29, 2011 - Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking is a method that Internet users employ to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources.
Assignments:
1. Create your own Delicious account.
2. Add 10 bookmarks to your Delicious account.
3. Create 5 tags to use in your Delicious account.
4. Follow 2 people on Delicious.
2. Comment on this post. Include your thoughts about how you might use Delicious (or other social bookmarking sites) in your classroom, what the benefits are of using social bookmarking as an educator, something you learned in class today, or thoughts about an article you have read about social bookmarking.
I can see this as a great resource for PLC's. We are working on common assessments and collaborating on units, especially for the Common Core. This would be effective for sharing links and resources as teams. We could link to each others' blogs. In class, our media coordinator and I could create stacks for researching topics and background information on novels. --Shelly Edmonds
ReplyDeleteI was so excited after class last Thursday to begin creating my personal stacks. Each year I find myself searching for websites and videos that I had used the previous year on a particular topic. Learning about social bookmarking has made it possible to hold all the documents and links used in one place. I also love the idea that I can access it from anywhere! I shared the concept of social bookmarking with several colleagues and they too were thrilled to open an account an begin building their own stacks:)
ReplyDeleteLove it!!
I love this concept of shared bookmarks!! SLPs are isolated working within the schools( there is usually just one/school) and we only have 5 meetings/year- this is a great way to share sites, both locally and nationally. Anyone want to come and teach this at our next speech inservice? Thanks for a great class.
