Class 8 - Wordle and Weebly

Please post a comment to this post reflecting on, Why I would or wouldn't use Wordle or Weebly in your classroom. Please comment on the use of both sites.

  1. I plan to use my Weebly website for my classes this term and see how I like it compared to my UEN site.

Wordle (or something like it) might be useful in my CTE Intro class in the Marketing unit, if they want to use it in their advertising.

  2. I love to use Wordle in my 3rd grade classroom. At the beginning of each year, students brainstorm words that reflect who they are. Students then create a Wordle using these words. I print their projects, mount them to card stock and laminate them. This becomes the cover for their All About Me Book. This book becomes a portfolio of writing and art ideas throughout the year. The completed project becomes a memory or keepsake book for students.

  3. I love the ease of Weebly for my classroom website. My biggest concern is not being able to make it private for just parents. (I can't afford the Pro version at this time.) Out of my 29 students, I have 6 who have chosen, at this point, not to allow work and pictures to be added. I've looked into using the free Google website maker because it allows more control on who has access. However, after seeing the ease of Weebly, Google seems cumbersome and time consuming. For this year, I will make a simple Weebly website for my classroom and re-evaluate for next year. D. Owens

  4. I love using Wordle with my students as they insert the vocabulary for a unit and create an interesting graphic representation of the important key words.

I really liked using Weebly. It was easy and clear on how to use it. I already use a wikispace for my class website so I am not sure that I will switch at this time. It becomes a summer project to see if I will switch over.
